Everybody wants a lawn to be proud of, and we all see splendid examples on our travels. The area may be small or large but the question is always the same - "Why can't my lawn look like that?"  The type of grass is only one factor but the basic cause of disappointment is the lack of proper maintenance, many lawn owners completely misunderstand the basic principles of lawn care.

Your garden space may need clearing and leveling or you may need top-soil brought in or a combination of these prior to turfing. We can provide all that is needed to give you the perfect view from the kitchen window and a luxuriant carpet of nature to enjoy for years to come. As well as the initial preparation and laying of your new lawn we provide that all-so-necessary advice on lawn care.

If you want that picturesque lawn these steps, often unheard of by the home gardener, are essential and we offer them all.

This may seem a lot to be done but the costs are well worth the comfort of having a beautiful lawn without even having to think much about it.

Watering to set in turf or germinate seeds (if just turfed or seeded).

 

Spring March to May

Mowing and Raking - monthly in March, April and May to clear up after the winter, removal of any moss, weeds or thatch (dead grass) to stimulate new green grass growth.

Feeding / Treating - once to prevent weeds and disease and promote thick green grass.

Rolling (only if necessary) - normally to reconsolidate turf which has been lifted by frost.

Lawn repair -Lawn edges, around tree and planting areas can over grow and look unsightly, we can make it look attractive again.

Weeding - Removal of weeds on or near the lawn and possible re-turf or re-seed affected areas.

 

Summer May to August

Mowing and Raking - once a week or bi monthly (recommended) grass length and appearance, weed control, debris and loose grass clippings removal.

Feeding / Treating - once to prevent weeds and disease and promote thick green grass for full use over the summer months.

Lawn repair -Lawn edges, around tree and planting areas can over grow and look unsightly, we can make it look attractive again.

Weeding - Removal of weeds on or near the lawn and possible re-turf or re-seed affected areas.

 

Autumn September to November

Mowing and Raking - monthly - improve grass attractiveness ready for winter, removal of debris, leaves and thatch (dead grass).

Aerating (fork spikes into the lawn) - once - helps prevent water logging, worms, leather jackets, brown patches and promotes good root development and drainage.

Top soiling / flattening / disease prevention - once - levels out hollows, dips, worn out grass areas and hides bumps. Also the addition of top soil feeds the lawn and contains products which prevent molds especially for winter.

Feeding / Treating - once to prevent weeds and disease setting in / establishing itself over the winter.

Lawn repair -Lawn edges, around tree and planting areas can over grow and look unsightly, we can make it look attractive again.

Weeding - Removal of weeds on or near the lawn and possible re-turf or re-seed affected areas.

 

Winter  November to March

Mowing and Raking - once or twice - improve grass attractiveness during winter, removal of debris, leaves and thatch (dead grass).

Lawn repair -Lawn edges, around tree and planting areas can over grow and look unsightly, we can make it look attractive again.

 

Anytime

Lawn browning - Drought, Water logging, Red thread, Disease, Pests, Over fertilising, Bitch urine, Spilt liquids, Buried debris, Compaction. These are some of the common causes of lawn browning, we can solve and rectify your lawn browning and returning your lovely green lawn back to you.

Disease - usually helped by the application of to soil impregnating with anti disease products, however, diseases can appear at any time, therefore we offer the service of removal or treatment. Examples of diseases are: Snow mold, Ophiobolus patch, Dollar spot, Toadstalls, Lichen and Algae.

Pests - application of products to rid the ground of moles, worms, leather jackets, ants, mining bees, birds, chafer grubs.

Water logging - where there is water build up on the law, this can be solved by simple or extensive methods depending on the cause and lawn circumstances.

Weeding - Rosette weeds: Plantain, Dandelion, Cat's-ear. Mat weeds: Pearlwort, Yarrow, Clover. Removal of weeds like these can be laborious, we can take the trouble off your hands and leave you with your lovely lawn.

Trimming - neatening up lawn areas for special occasions or general appearance.
